Interviews… my commentary
August 30, 2008 at 3:22 am | In Uncategorized | 7 CommentsHere’s my thoughts… what are yours?
McKEY -
She has a very large mouth, especially in compared with her nose and eyes, which I think will give her a unique look. Her personality was a lot more muted than I expected, which actually makes me like her more.
HANNAH -
I most looked forward to seeing Hannah’s interview, because she was my favorite from the promos. I think that she has he potential to be one of those crazy non-model-looking/seeming in real life, and really show people up in photo shoots. I like her enthusiasm, though something about her mouth when she talks bothers me a bit.
SHARAUN -
Wow, she has a really LOUD voice. She’s the crazy-loud one this cycle, but in a way, it’s kind of endearing. She has a really great smile, too.
ANALEIGH (Ah-nah-lee) -
She seems really sweet! Like a more down-to-earth, more book-smart Amis. She’s definitely going to get her hair chopped, because we all know how much Tyra loves chopping off girls’ super-long hair. She does seem to talk with her hands a lot, which has the potential to get annoying.
SAMANTHA -
Cheerleader, anyone? She’s actually a lot better looking in the video than in the individual photo. She’s got spunk, too, though in a very “high school” sort of way. She’s growing on me.
MARJORIE -
So, she’s the fun, spunky one this cycle. I love her personality and character, but I’m not sure about her model potential. She also seemed REALLY nervous in front of the camera (Lauren c10, anyone?)
BRITTANY -
Her voice is a lot different than I expected and her mannerisms remind me of someone I know, which is kind of weird to me. I don’t see “model” at all, though
CLARK -
I think she looks a lot better “in person” than in the photos. She seems a bit unsure as to what to do in front of the camera, though, almost as if she’s a bit camera shy?
LAUREN BRIE -
She reminds me a lot of CariDee… anyone else see that? Blonde, anyone, though? I’m not really seeing much personality yet… just a whole lot of blonde
ELINA -
I actually find her less impressive in person than in her photos, though she does seem interesting (albeit maybe a bit cocky?) and intelligent. Maybe a less-severe Allison c10?
ISIS -
Anyone else notice the staticness in her facial expressions during the interview? Her face seems rather disproportional and awkward… perhaps she will be the awkward in real life, modelesquey-awkward in photos one this cycle?
JOSLYN -
Yikes. She reminds me so much of Dominique. Scary. I like the “My momma told me, she’s like, GIRL! Put that weave in your hair and dye it and yo hair’s gonna fall out!” Hilarious.
NIKEYSHA -
“My role model is Saleisha!” No, seriously… she didn’t say that, but she might as well have. I think she’s going to annoy me.
SHEENA -
“I brung it”
“not like the other Asian females that was representin’”
“more edgier”
So… she’s trying to be a “stereotype slasher” by being an Asian girl that acts black. Um… kay. Officially my least favorite model wannabe this cycle.

Pre-ANTM Sheena Pics
August 23, 2008 at 2:46 pm | In Uncategorized | 1 Comment
Um. I’m not really sure how to say what I want to say about these pics without sounding mean, so I’m just going to come out and say that she definitely has an air of trashiness about her. If you’re a fan of all-ANTM.net, you’ll notice that I didn’t even include all of the pics because some of them were really trashy and I’d really like to keep this site as “Rated PG” as possible. There is something to be said about being comfortable with your body, but some people just really seem to lack class.
My Humble Opinions
August 23, 2008 at 1:03 am | In Uncategorized | 3 CommentsI know you all have been just dying to know what I think of our new girls… so, here it is.

Hannah
Her “story” – she lived without electricity
Her best feature – her fabulous, upbeat personality
Her worst feature – possibly having “one look” and not being versatile and edgy enough
Personally, I think she’s fab. Although I wasn’t overly impressed with the group pic, she was one of the only girls whose individual pic didn’t make my eyes bleed. She fits the “easy, breezy, beautiful” bill, and a very symmetrical face. She may look a bit “girl next door” right now, but with a proper makeover, those ridiculously long legs will take her places. Plus, she seems to have a really positive personality without going overboard into ditzy/rainbow-spewing.

Sharaun
Her “story” – not sure yet
Her best feature – her great body shape and nice legs
Her worst feature – possibly having a lack of range in her facial expressions
After the disappointing black girls last cycle, I was really glad to see Sharaun’s awesome Afro and promising facial features (big eyes, big lips, petite nose). Pretty much the only thing I don’t like about her at this point is her name – but then again, most of the names this cycle are completely ridiculous and look made-up. Sharaun has great legs, and I could actually picture her on a runway (unlike many of these other girls).

McKey
Her “story” – not sure yet
Her best feature – her strong, expressive facial features
Her worst feature – her prominent jaw
I am a big fan of this girl, but she does not know her angles… yet. I see someone with great potential, though, since her features are really modelesque. She’s a clear fan favorite, though, which means she’ll probably be the runner-up.

Elina
Her “story” – a crusader for animals’ rights
Her best feature – her Eastern European exotic look
Her worst feature – her Eastern European exotic look… for some reason Tyra seems to hate girls like that
This is another girl whom I’m really looking forward to seeing more of. She seems to have a very confident air about her, which could definitely be a good thing. Her extreme political views may make for pretty entertaining controversy as well, which could help keep her on the show for quite awhile.

Analeigh
Her “story” – she was almost sold as a mail-order bride
Her best feature – her previous experience may help her out in this competition
Her worst feature – her facial features, which – although distinct – are more like an actress than a model
At first I wasn’t really impressed with Analeigh, though after looking at some of her pre-show work, I’m convinced she could probably do CoverGirl well. The fact that she’s done some modeling before shows me that she is serious about it, so we’re not going to get an Amis part 2 that is just in it for fun, though what we’ve seen of her personality may seem similar. I’m just not sure how long she’ll make it.

Marjorie
Her “story” – well, she’s French
Her best feature – her strong profile and hair style that shows off her face
Her worst feature – her eyes? in the pics we’ve seen so far, I am not at all drawn to her eyes
Marjorie intrigues me, but doesn’t impress me as a model. She’ll either adapt and figure out what she’s doing, producing wonderful pictures, or she’ll hang on for awhile because of her edginess and unique style (a la Lauren c10) and then be cut for just not having what it takes and not being able to translate her style to film.

Clark
Her “story” – not sure yet
Her best feature – her eyes… LOVELY color, lovely shape, and when you look at the pictures, it seems that she was connecting with the camera
Her worst feature – her posing… in the pics we’ve seen so far, it seems that she has no idea what she’s doing. Even in her pre-ANTM pics, her poses look awkward and staged.

Samantha
Her “story” – not sure yet
Her best feature – her versatility… she looks totally different in her two shots so far
Her worst feature – possibly being “too pretty,” and getting the dumb blonde edit
This one needs a disclaimer. I absolutely LOVED her group shot, but I HATED her individual shot. So… for what it’s worth, I do believe that she is versatile, and as long as she has a halfway decent (aka not completely stupid) personality, she has a chance after getting a makeover.

Brittany
Her “story” – she’s half-Native American
Her best feature – her skin tone. Seriously, unless there’s been MAJOR re-touching (which there probably has been), this girl has a very lovely skin tone… somewhat of a cappuccino-color?
Her worst feature – Um… her… boring-ness?
I’m sure most guys think she looks really good when they see her on the street, but when it comes to model potential, I just don’t’ see it. And unless she learns to do something different with her face – her mouth, especially – I don’t anticipate any fabulous photographs from her.

Isis
Her “story” – she’s transgendered
Her best feature – her controversial story… if she makes it far, it will likely be because she is “strong” and “brave” and whatever other sort of nonsense Tyra thinks up at the time (although I will admit, her group photo is lovely… but it looks nothing like the other two shots).
Her worst feature – her facial features… something about them seems very asymmetrical and almost lopsided? Anyone else notice that? Like one eye is larger than the other?
So, somehow Isis went from homeless model to top model wannabe… and all the hype about her kind of reminds me of the hype that surrounded Marvita’s re-appearance last cycle after being cut previously. Though many thought that Marvita was going to “pull a Jaslene” by winning c10, it’s obvious that she did not, and I doubt Isis is going to make it to the final episode, either.

Sheena
Her “story” – um… she’s Asian?
Her best feature – her Asian heritage… since there hasn’t been an Asian on the show in awhile (according to Tyra, who conveniently always forgets that Claire was half-Filipina), Sheena is certain to make it far
Her worst feature – her head, which looks disproportional to her body
With c10 being a white winner, and every third being a black winner, this cycle’s once again time for a “other minority” winner (if you believe in those types of ANTM patterns). This makes me think that Sheena will probably make it very far – and possibly even win – despite the fact that as of the pics we have right now, I am quite far from being impressed.

Lauren Brie
Her “story” – not sure yet
Her best feature – her large forehead, which is likely to be considered quite fashionable and unique
Her worst feature – her height? For some reason, in her individual pic she looks rather short. Perhaps it’s just the pose?
When it comes to Lauren Brie, I’m not impressed. It seems that we’ve done this before, and I – for one – would really like something new. How many times have we done the “dumb blonde” thing? Catie c2… Cassandra c5 (sorta)… Kari c6… Mila c9… Kimberly c10… and c11 again?

Joslyn
Her “story” – she was once scammed into a fake reality show
Her best feature – ummm… well, she has long arms… I guess that could be an asset?
Her worst feature – it’s very close between her large-looking legs, her prominent nose, her awkward posing, and her “dead” eyes
Unless she really pulls something fabulous and unexpected out of her hat, I don’t see her making it far (and, yes, I’ve seen spoilers… I just know better than to trust any of them… they’re fun to read about, but I’ve found them to be wrong more often than they’re right).

Nikeysha
Her “story” – she’s a long-lost twin sister of Saleisha, whom she met while they were filming a Wendy’s ad. When Tyra found out that Saleisha had a twin, she knew that she had to put Nikeysha on the show in order to convince everyone that the whole Saleisha thing wasn’t just a setup, and that girls with mushroom haircuts and soccer-mom looks can go on to be ANTM by their own merit. Of course, in doing so, she once again rigged the entire cycle.
kidding.
Her best feature: Um. She does seem to have long-ish legs?
Her worst feature: That awful hairdo.
I don’t get this one at all. It really is as if Tyra just wanted to set us all up in some convoluted bit of irony. I mean, their haircuts are the same, and their names even sound alike? Maybe Nikeysha used to be named something else, but changed her name and haircut after seeing Saleisha win because she was such a big ANTM fan? Who knows?
Episode 11 Description
August 19, 2008 at 12:05 pm | In Uncategorized | 9 CommentsWEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3
“AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL” (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET)
“The Notorious Fierce Fourteen” (TBA)
CYCLE 11 KICKS OFF IN LOS ANGELES WITH A TRANSGENDER CONTESTANT In the cycle 11 season premiere, 30 girls are selected to strike their fiercest pose at the Top Model Institute of Technology. A hi-tech runway analyzes the girls strut & Tyra, Miss J and Jay Manuel assess which 14 show the most Top Model potential. One of the models making waves causes a stir when she reveals that she’s transgender! Once the finalists have been hand picked, the ladies move into their house and tackle their first photo challenge: turning hot button political issues into hot pictures. After the judges deliberate, the first of the fourteen is sent packing. Tyra Banks, Paulina Porizkova, J. Alexander and Nigel Barker are the judges (#1101/#1102).
Notorious? Oh, really? I’m not a fan of this episode title, which sounds so completely contrived and exaggerated. Plus, how many times to do we have to put in the description that Isis is transgendered? I mean, seriously?
So what do we actually learn from this description?
- Tyra still likes to make a huge deal about how diverse her contestants are
- They’re back in LA (a bit of a bummer, IMO… I liked that they were in NYC last year)
- They’re going for a “hi-tech” casting, which means it will probably look like something out of a bad 70s sci-fi movie
- Tyra still likes to be “controversial”
- The girl who takes home the prize of America’s Next Top Tyra Banks must be willing to be controversial and political as well
- This cycle is either really going to rock or really going to bomb. And I’m not really sure yet which it’ll be.
Tyra Talks Cycle 11
August 17, 2008 at 6:24 pm | In Uncategorized | 15 CommentsFor some reason, Tyra seemed way less hyped about these girls than the cycle 10 girls. Did anyone else notice that? So, in case you don’t want to watch/hear Tyra’s obnoxiousness, here’s basically what she said about each girl:
Sheena – She’s Asian, but she acts black.
Joslyn – She tried out many times before, and has a lot of drive.
Clark – She’s pretty-pretty… almost too pretty to be a model.
Hannah – She talks with her hands a lot and lived in Alaska.
Lauren Brie – She has a “haunting” look.
ShaRaun – She’s like Diana Ross, and has a big personality as well.
Brittany – She’s part Native American, part African-American.
McKey – The Jays love her.
Elina – She’s intense, and could be a big contender.
Alaleigh – She has a runway model look.
Samantha – She has an interestingly-shaped face.
Nikeysha – She says “Hey!” a lot.
Marjorie – She’s nervous-looking, but cute.
Isis – She has beautiful eyes and wants to prove to the world that she’s good enough.

A bit about Lauren Brie
August 15, 2008 at 9:34 pm | In Uncategorized | 59 CommentsFormer Monticello High School standout, Lauren Brie Harding, daughter of Albemarle County Sheriff Chip Harding, has been selected as one of the fourteen contestants for cycle 11 of America’s Next Top Model, the reality TV-show hosted by supermodel Tyra Banks.
The season premieres September 3rd. Contestants were announced Wednesday.
Principal Billy Haun remembers Brie as being very active as a Monticello student.
In addition to being a standout varsity basketball player, she was part of the student leadership program, and took photography classes. She also took many career and technical education classes that have helped her prepare for her role in the fashion and modeling industry. She was already doing some modeling during her senior year.
Lauren Brie is a currently a student at Radford University, but lists Charlottesville as her hometown.
Who is she? That’s been the question on lips all over town since it was revealed this morning that season 11 of Tyra Banks’ megahit show, America’s Next Top Model, will feature a 20-year-old Charlottesville beauty named Lauren Brie.
Well, who is she? Here’s a clue: If she needs protection from the throngs of admirers likely to come her way once the show premieres September 3, she won’t have to look far for law enforcement support: Lauren Brie is actually Lauren Brie Harding, daughter of Albemarle County Sheriff Chip Harding (pictured at right with his wife and Brie’s mom, Linda Harding).
The stunning blonde, who actually goes by her middle name, Brie, is a Monticello High School grad who played basketball for the Mustangs and is now a Radford University student.
Reached moments ago while on vacation in Florida, Sheriff Harding says his daughter’s selection out of thousands to compete on the show has been a closely held secret “for a long time.”
Citing the show’s strict confidentiality requirements, Harding declines to reveal any details of his daughter’s experience. Still, he admits, “We’re very excited.”
